I'm Nii Noi Omaboe, Social Activist.

Nii Noi Omaboe is deeply passionate about building Accra to become Africa’s first shelter city.

In his vision, the diverseness of the city weaves together rich cultural appreciation, community connection, sense of sustainability and innovation with tactical urbanism as its foundation.

Nii Noi Omaboe

Nii Noi’s journey is against the backdrop of both the bustling, dynamic heart of Accra and the resilient, thriving pockets of the city. Nurtured in under-resourced Accra, his horizons expanded with every step of his education and career, introducing him to the sophisticated charm and opportunities nestled in the high-end quarters. This unique intersection of experiences has not only enriched Nii Noi’s perspective but has become formidable to his aspirations to be Mayor of Accra.

His work has been in two major urban sustainability transitioning sectors, Waste and Transport. He currently works and organises with city networks like the C40 Youth Hub and the Cities Working Group of the Youth Constituency of the UNFCCC where he is Team Lead.

He is also Lead Campaigner for Transform Transport Accra, an initiative advocating for properly designed and maintained intercity cycling networks that allow for trips undertaken on foot or by bicycle and ease dependence on ICE vehicles.

Until recently, He was a Program Analyst at Impact Hub Accra, for the Net Zero Accra initiative - an immersive multi stakeholder platform were he was coordinating to scale varying e-mobility projects springing up in the City.

In recognition of his work, he was selected top 100 out of 1265 from 80 Cities for the Local Pathway Fellowship - an initiative by the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network. He was also recognised as a Transport Fellow with Clean Mobility Collective and the Urban Mobility Initiative Fund.
